On May 2, 2018, Gov. Nathan Deal signed the Hands-Free Georgia Act (HB 673) into law. To combat distracted driving in Georgia, the new law — which goes into effect on July 1, 2018 — makes it illegal for drivers to hold or support their phones and other mobile devices with their hands or any other body parts while operating a vehicle.
