Atlanta personal injury attorney Darl Champion, a Smyrna resident and member of the Smyrna Rotary Club, was one of several Smyrna Rotarians who volunteered at Nickajack Elementary School to deliver free dictionaries to third graders. The dictionaries that were delivered to Nickajack were handed out on Friday, February 12, 2016 to a cafeteria filled with energetic third-graders. Smyrna Rotary Past President Scott Auer told the third-graders about Rotary and the Four-Way Test. Darl also spoke to the excited students about the importance of reading and how they can use the dictionaries to help them develop this important skill. Smyrna Rotarians Jay Treadwell and Jae Scarborough also helped with the dictionary delivery.
The dictionary project was a service project of the Smyrna Rotary Club. Approximately 150 dictionaries were delivered to the Nickajack third-graders. The Club also donated dictionaries to other elementary schools in the Smyrna area, including the International Academy of Smyrna and Russell Elementary.
