In this case, our client was injured in a violent car crash on Interstate 20. The at-fault driver was traveling westbound when he failed to see our client slowing with traffic ahead and struck the rear of our client’s vehicle. The force of the impact pushed our client’s vehicle into a truck traveling beside him, resulting in a second collision.
The crashes caused significant damage to our client’s vehicle, including the rear windshield being completely blown out and the driver’s seat being bent from the force of the impact.
Later that day, our client began experiencing increasing pain in his neck and left shoulder. Diagnostic testing, including an arthrogram, confirmed a superior labrum anterior to posterior (SLAP) tear in his left shoulder.
Our client is left-hand dominant, and his shoulder injury has continued to affect his daily activities. At the time of the crash, he worked in a supervisory role that required physical activity, and he was unable to work while wearing the shoulder sling. After returning to his job, he continued to work with limitations and discomfort.
Outside of work, our client still had to keep up with his family life and responsibilities on his farm. Tasks that were once routine, such as lifting, carrying, and handling equipment, became more difficult. He has continued to manage these responsibilities by modifying how he performs tasks and relying on assistance when needed.
Even years after the collision, our client continues to experience pain and limitations related to his shoulder injury. Although he has avoided surgery so far, it remains a possibility in the future.
