Ivonne Sotelo was born in Mexico City and grew up in Canton, Georgia. After graduating college, Ivonne knew she wanted a career dedicated to helping others during difficult moments in their lives.
Ivonne earned a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies, with concentrations in theology, political science, and communications. Each discipline played a role in shaping her career, combining critical thinking, advocacy, and strong communication skills.
While in school, she was actively involved in the theology program and participated in nonprofit organizations supporting the local immigrant community. Ivonne taught English, assisted with GED preparation, and traveled to neighboring states to lead theology seminars. Supporting immigrant families was especially meaningful to her, as she saw her own roots reflected in the people she served and took pride in helping them achieve their goals.
Ivonne was drawn to personal injury law after witnessing medical malpractice within her own family at a young age. That experience instilled a deep desire to help others affected by the negligence of a third party. What she finds most fulfilling about this area of law is helping restore a sense of dignity and healing to clients’ lives.
Ivonne’s favorite part of being a paralegal is witnessing the transformation of a client’s journey throughout the personal injury process. “It is incredibly moving to see someone move from a place of feeling broken and hopeless at the start of the process to achieving justice and closing a difficult chapter in their lives,” she says.
Outside of work, Ivonne lives in Ball Ground, Georgia, where she enjoys the balance of small-town life paired with working in a Metro Atlanta office. She is active in her church, volunteers through community events, and supports her children’s involvement in sports. She also likes to spend her free time going to the park with her two boys, relaxing in the front yard with neighbors while the kids play, reading, dancing, and playing with her family’s dog, a Bichapoo named Buddy.
