Mar was born and raised in Barranquilla, Colombia. Her career in the legal field began at age 21, when she took a position at a law firm and quickly discovered an interest in the work.
Mar enjoys knowing that her work helps the legal team better understand a client’s medical history and develop a more complete picture of what they have experienced.
What initially started as a new professional opportunity grew into an important part of her career as she learned more about the day-to-day operations of a law firm and the role each team member plays in helping people navigate difficult circumstances.
Mar studied Administrative Assistance, developing a strong foundation in organization, communication, time management, and attention to detail, skills that have proven especially valuable throughout her legal career. More recently, she began studying Psychology, which has given her an additional perspective on empathy, communication, and understanding the different ways people experience challenging situations.
During school, Mar particularly enjoyed helping organize and coordinate events, experiences that strengthened her ability to collaborate with others and keep important details on track.
Personal injury law is particularly meaningful to Mar because clients are often navigating physical, emotional, and financial challenges all at once. Even when her role takes place behind the scenes, reviewing medical records is a constant reminder that every document represents a real person and a real experience. She takes pride in approaching each case with accuracy, consistency, and care so the legal team has the information it needs to effectively advocate for the client.
Outside of work, Mar has a creative side and enjoys finding new ways to express it. She loves reading, discovering new music and artists, hand embroidery, baking, going to the movies, attending concerts, and experimenting with different crafts and creative hobbies. She especially appreciates activities that give her an opportunity to slow down, be present, and simply enjoy creating something.
Mar is also an animal lover who has participated in fundraising campaigns and community efforts supporting cats and dogs in need, including efforts to provide food and medical care. At home, she has a cat named Bizcocha, whom she describes as the sweetest cat and a very special (and entertaining) part of her life.
