Police in Atlanta intercepted an erratic Ford F-150 driver on Tuesday, after the driver drove into a busy Midtown Atlanta intersection and proceeded to continuously perform donuts. Onlookers captured the scene on video:

In the now-viral video, a Georgia state trooper can be seen pulling up alongside the F-150 and using PIT maneuver tactics to force the driver to stop. Acting quickly, the officer exited his vehicle and lept onto its hood, from which point he was able to apprehend the truck driver and take him into custody.

Atlanta Donut Driver Put Lives in Danger

Local news outlets reported that at least one person was injured as a result of the donut driver, with likely more injuries unaccounted for yet. While many onlookers stopped to take in the bizarre scene at the intersection, it’s important to note that this kind of driving is extremely dangerous for both onlookers and the person operating the vehicle, alike. Pedestrian accidents like this can cause extreme injury to the victims, as well as damage to other nearby vehicles. News sources have yet to confirm if the driver of the vehicle owned the truck he used to perform the donuts.

Legal Action for Drivers and Pedestrians Injured by the Intersection Donuts

Those impacted by the donut driver’s negligent actions, which put the crowd of pedestrians as well as other drivers at risk of injury, would have a few legal options they could take to get justice for any harm or damage they experienced as a result of the driver’s actions.

For example, an Atlanta personal injury lawyer would be able to help an injured person file a claim against the reckless F-150 driver for medical expenses, lost wages, pain and suffering, and punitive damages.

If a person had their vehicle hit or damaged as a result of the donuts, they could make a property damage claim with the negligent driver’s insurance company. Punitive damages may be available for any property damage claim.

It is also important that somebody who is struck as a pedestrian know that their own vehicle’s uninsured motorist coverage may be available to them if the negligent driver has no insurance or not enough insurance.
