In this case, our client was driving northbound on Sandy Plains Road in Cobb County, Georgia, with four of her children in the vehicle. As she proceeded through the intersection with Scufflegrit Road, another driver traveling in the opposite direction attempted to make a left turn and failed to yield, striking the front of her vehicle.
The impact caused significant damage to both vehicles and deployed the airbags in our client’s car. The at-fault driver was cited for failure to yield by the responding officer.
Due to the severity of the collision, our client and one of her children were transported from the scene by EMS.
Following the crash, our client sought treatment for ongoing neck and shoulder pain and was diagnosed with a sternoclavicular joint injury and neck pain. Despite several months of treatment, she continued to experience discomfort.
All four children sustained injuries in the collision. One child suffered a right clavicle fracture that ultimately required two surgeries. Another child experienced neck and chest pain with bruising from the seatbelt and was diagnosed with a neck injury. Another child reported thigh and chest pain with bruising consistent with the impact. The fourth child experienced shoulder soreness and chest discomfort related to the seatbelt.
Attorneys Lisa Bero and Rebecca Clements represented the family and recovered a settlement of $324,000 on their behalf.
