Jonathan was born and raised in Masaya, Nicaragua, known as the “Capital of Folklore.”
His career in the legal and medical field began at age 29 when he was given the opportunity to work as a medical records specialist. “I loved learning how ICD 10-11 and CPT codes are used to categorize treatments and injuries,” he says. “It fascinated me how structured and meaningful medical documentation can be in understanding someone’s story.”
Jonathan’s diverse background has shaped him into a well-rounded professional. As a massage therapist, he developed a strong understanding of pain management and an empathetic approach to clients, having experienced sports-related injuries himself through judo and football.
His experience in customer service and technical support also comes in handy when troubleshooting technical issues or communicating with healthcare providers. Currently, Jonathan is expanding his skill set by studying data science. “I love data and reports,” he says, “so all of that mixed experience has helped me become a great medical records requestor.”
What Jonathan finds most fulfilling about his work is seeing how medical records play a vital role in building strong cases and helping injured clients seek justice.
Outside of work, Jonathan enjoys exploring the natural beauty of his home country through hiking and trekking. His most recent adventure was to San Ramón Falls on Ometepe Island, whose name means “two volcanoes” in Nahuatl.
When he’s not outdoors, you can find him dancing salsa, playing football, watching movies and anime, or enjoying video games.
