Norma was born and raised in Nicaragua, a country known as the “Land of Lakes and Volcanoes.” Growing up, she enjoyed playing sports and being part of a close-knit school community. One of her most meaningful experiences was participating in a cultural exchange program where she connected with visitors from around the world.
After high school, Norma pursued extensive specialized training through scholarships from several nonprofit organizations, focusing on cybersecurity, networking, cloud computing, and user interface design. This unique technical background has played a key role in shaping her career as a medical records specialist.
Norma brings a strong understanding of data integrity and a “security-first” mindset to her work, ensuring that sensitive patient health information is handled with the highest standards of HIPAA compliance and confidentiality. Her training in user interface design allows her to approach documentation with a focus on clarity, accuracy, and organization, all essential components in maintaining reliable medical records.
Her personal values of integrity, empathy, and continuous improvement guide everything she does, both professionally and personally. She approaches her work with care, knowing that well-maintained medical records are not just about compliance, but about supporting people during important moments in their lives.
Norma finds deep fulfillment in her role as a medical records specialist, describing herself as a “guardian of patient data.” She takes pride in ensuring that medical records are secure, accurate, and handled with integrity, recognizing that behind every file is a person placing their trust in the process.
Outside of work, Norma is passionate about empowering women in technology and is involved in programs such as Mujer Digital Costa Rica. She enjoys reading everything from books to Korean manhwas and Japanese manga, as well as watching anime, Korean and Chinese dramas, and Thai horror films. She also loves spending time in nature, capturing sunsets and beautiful scenery through photography.
